Software bots also known as a worm, purpose is to infect computer system. They are software programs written by people who wants to take control of your PC. These bots are written in many different languages and deploy very stealthy techniques to attack and remain hidden once they get implanted. They try to communicate with other computers using internet connects and operates on peer to peer basis which makes it really hard to find them. When making connect they do not use DNS or send strings which can be easily read by humans, rather they encode the message. These worms stay dormant and do nothing for a period of interval and then suddenly jumps to actions like sending spam or phishing, password theft and other sneaky things. These attacks are getting becoming serious day by day and more frequent. Back doors are created by some computer virus, dictionary attacks and through downloading of E-mail. Botnets work with free DNS hosting sites like DynDns.org, No-IP.com, & Afraid.org to point a subdomain towards an IRC server. These free DNS services don’t host attacks, but they provide reference points.
